2nd Annual Holiday Getaway at the Elmhurst Art Museum! Sunday, December 10, 2006

Elmhurst, Illinois - Get out of the cold and enjoy indoor activities for the entire family! Join the Elmhurst Art Museum for their 2nd Annual Holiday Getaway on Sunday, December 10, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Catch the holiday spirit by creating a unique holiday card, painting an ornament, or making a special purchase in the Museum Shop. You will also be treated to an open performance at 3:30 p.m. by the York High School Madrigals as they sing some festive songs and a special visit by Santa Claus will make the afternoon merrier!

All Museum Shop visitors will receive a 10% discount off any Elmhurst Art Museum Shop purchase. The museum shop offers one-of-a-kind creations from twenty-five artisans, including blown glass items, jewelry, art books, holiday cards, ornaments and much more! Receive an additional 10% savings if you are a museum member. Persons wishing to take advantage of the extra savings and enjoy a total of 20% can do so by becoming an Elmhurst Art Museum member at the time of purchase. Museum memberships also make wonderful gifts; individual memberships begin at $30, family $45, and $100 for a donor level “Century” membership.

Also enjoy the museum’s latest exhibition entitled Andre Ferrella: Artist of the Spirit, a spectacular exhibition of mystery and discovery that runs through January 7, 2007. An internationally celebrated multi-media artist, painter, and photographer, Andre Ferrella emphasizes thoughtful consideration of our place in the universe while producing imaginative, luminous images. In addition to the indoor gallery displays, he uses the architectural award-winning building itself as a palette for his unique large-scale animated projections. The exterior light installation is free of charge and on view each evening until midnight. The museum’s remaining educational programs can give you a better understanding of the artwork and the process behind their creation. For more information visit www.elmhurstartmuseum.org.

The Elmhurst Art Museum’s award-winning modern museum structure incorporates the Ludwig Mies van der Rohe-designed McCormick House, one of three such residences designed by the internationally known architect, and contains museum galleries, an education center and a variety of outdoor sculpture. Located only 15 miles west of Chicago and adjacent to the Metra West train line, the Museum offers public tours and programs, guest lectures and art classes on a regular basis.
