Elmhurst Art Museum is full of great opportunities to learn and to be part of the EAM TEAM! Be a public-contact volunteer by greeting visitors, giving directions through the Museum, selling memberships, assisting shoppers in the EAM Museum Shop or working a exhibition opening reception or fundraiser.
Behind-the-scenes volunteers get to be just that - behind the scenes! Assisting with administrative, curatorial or fund development projects are just some of the exciting things you can do if you volunteer in the EAM offices. Volunteers are integral to the success of the Elmhurst Art Museum. We need your time and talents in a variety of areas:
Office Support
You’ll provide clerical support for the Museum as they pertain to mailings, research, and other functions related to exhibition openings, etc.
Visitor Services
You’ll provide information to visitors about the Museum. Shift times are typically 2-hour increments.
Curatorial
Assist the curator in activities related to the exhibitions and collection. Previous experience handling art is a must.
Docent
You’ll attend a docent training to educate you on a current exhibition and give tours to Museum visitors, school groups, etc. Shift times are typically 2 hour increments.
Maintenance
You’ll help with a variety of Museum maintenance projects that include painting, cleaning, minor repairs and outside building care. Shift times vary and can be seasonal.
Event Support
You’ll help Museum staff with various events that support Museum activities. The annual Art in the Park and Gala Benefit are good examples. Shift times vary, but coincide with event dates and preparatory work that must take place.
