Volunteer

Elmhurst Art Museum is full of great opportunities to learn and to be part of the EAM TEAM! Be a public-contact volunteer by greeting visitors, giving directions through the Museum, selling memberships, assisting shoppers in the EAM Museum Shop or working a exhibition opening reception or fundraiser.

SupportersBehind-the-scenes volunteers get to be just that - behind the scenes! Assisting with administrative, educational programming, or fund development projects are just some of the exciting things you can do if you volunteer with EAM. Volunteers are integral to the success of the Elmhurst Art Museum. We need your time and talents in a variety of areas:

Visitor Services and Administrative/Clerical
You’ll greet and provide information to visitors about the Museum, exhibitions, and art programming, as well as processing Museum Shop transactions.

You’ll also provide clerical support for the Museum as pertains to mailings, research, and other functions related to exhibition openings, etc. when needed, as well as occasional research projects.

Shift are 10-1:30pm and 1:30-5pm Tuesday-Thursday, and 10-1:30pm, 1:30-5pm, and 5-8pm on Fridays.  As this position requires a good deal of training, EAM requires a weekly or bi-weekly commitment of at least 4 months.

Docent
You’ll attend a docent training to educate you on a current exhibition and give tours to Museum visitors, school groups, etc. Training typically lasts 1 hour, and following shifts are typically 2 hour increments.

Education Programming
You'll help with education drop in programs and special programming durning Holiday Getaway and Museum Day. Shift times are typically 4-hour increments.

Special Events
You’ll help Museum staff with various events that support Museum activities, including the annual Gala Benefit. Shift times vary, but will coincide with event dates and preparatory work that must take place.

Fundraising
You'll help EAM's fundraising teams with membership, fundraising events, and special development efforts.  Shift times vary.
